Valentine's Day Card

Making this card was another chance for me to partake in the #SoSuzyStamps mirror image event:-)

I LOVE coffee! The February 2017 Coffee, Tea and Cocoa card kit from www.simonsaysstamps.com gave me a chance to express that AND make a card for my husband for Valentine's Day. A very non-traditional Valentine's Day card!

The design I set up gave me a chance to practice shading with my Copics... I have seen other crafters use blues to create depth around objects on their projects and this was my first try in doing so around the coffee cups. While other crafting techniques I seemed to pick up easier, coloring with Copics challenges me every time I pick up a marker.  However, without practicing it won't get any better!

I stamped the 2 cups using the mirror image rubber stamp from SoSuzyStamps on Neenah Solar White #80. This card came together much quicker by using the MISTI from My Sweet Petunia to stamp the cups.

I decided the cups should become a highlighted strip across the middle so that I could use some of the printed and solid cardstock included in the SSS kit. (Sorry at this time the kit is out of stock)

I felt my shading on this card was too bright and tried to make it warmer by using a blender pen and coloring over the first set of colors with warmer tones. Overall, the final product did end up better than it began. My crafting adventure continue...

Keep on crafting,
Sarah
